With 27 tourist facilities under management in Cuba, Spain´s Melia Hotels International makes efforts to keep growing at the Cuban market.
Melia Hotels ranks first among foreign companies operating in Cuba. The chain currently manages four and five-star hotels under the all-inclusive modality in all eight Cuban tourist centers.
Melia Hotels has proven the high contribution of hotel management contracts to the development and promotion of tourist products marked by high quality standards, which underline the Cuban destination in the Caribbean.

For the first time ever, more than 129 US travel agents and tour-operators are attending a Cuban tourism fair, said Tourism minister Manuel Marrero during the inauguration of the 35th edition.
Marrero made it clear that although US-Cuba negotiations are underway towards the normalization of relations, the island will never let down those nations that offered Cuba a hand in difficult moments.
At present the local tourist sector counts on 5 thousand 492 hotel rooms in four and five-star facilities, including 26 joint ventures. At the same time Cuba maintains hotel management contracts with 18 international hotel chains in 69 hotels, with Spain´s Melia Hotels International being the main partner. The Spanish group manages 27 tourist facilities and will soon mark its 25th anniversary of operations in Cuba.

Passenger ferries could be set to run between Florida and Cuba for the first time in more than 50 years after the US government approved new services.
Services between the two countries stopped when the US imposed a trade embargo on Cuba in 1960.
But Washington announced the restoration of diplomatic ties in December last year.
The US government has now lifted the ban and a number of ferry companies say they have been given licences.

The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bert Koenders will visit the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom and three Latin American countries in the region from May 4 till the following Monday. He will be successively visiting Aruba, Curaçao, St. Maarten, Cuba, Guatemala and Mexico.
Minister Koenders will visit his Cuban counterpart Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla, who has visited The Hague for the first time last Friday. The Netherlands acts as a bridge towards Cuba. The countries concluded earlier agreements in which both countries want more decisions to work together. The Netherlands and Cuba have the intention to cooperate in the fields of trade, agriculture, water management, biotechnology, strengthen regional cooperation and multilateral cooperation in the field of human rights and human rights instruments. Recent international developments offer new opportunities for investments, even for Dutch businesses.

Called to be the door of Cuba to the world, the enclave is aimed at encouraging comprehensive projects, promoting exports of domestic products of high added value and creating jobs, in constant coordination with the international trade and domestic economy.
Referring to the 118 Foreign Investment Law, she said it offers clear definitions of the sectors in which Cuba aims to promote the participation of foreign capital.
I believe that many entrepreneurs have interest in new opportunities that Cuba, a country that is changing a lot, she said, offers.

With nearly three decades of experience in hotel business, Gaviota Tourism Group will open four new facilities in 2015 to expand its presence in major tourist poles of Cuba.
Three of the new hotels will be located at Cayo Santa Maria, north of the province of Villa Clara, a center operated almost entirely today by the group; the other chosen destination is Varadero, Cuba’s main resort, announced Frank Oltuski, marketing vice president of Gaviota.
Prestigious foreign chains like Melia, Iberostar, Blau, Blue Diamond, and others to be added, manage more than 85 percent of Gaviota´s hotel capacity, associations that have allowed it to grow and gain experience with modern management methods.
To ensure all its services, this Cuban entity also has the travel agency Gaviota Tours, the marinas company Gaviotas, which will build new enclaves in Cayo Coco from 2017; and Transgaviota, for buses and rental cars.
